Propoint guide to smart drinking and alcoholic favourites

Smart Drink choices

Check out the full list of Propoints Values Guides here.

Australian alcohol guidelines (issued by national health and medical research council) recommend men and women drink no more than two standard drinks on any one day to reduce health risks over their life time. They also recommend drinking no more than four drinks on any single occasion to reduce risk of alcohol related injury. However, not all drinks were created equal, especial when it comes to what constitutes as a standard drink. For example some restaurant wine glasses now hold up to two standard drinks. To help you choose the smartest choice, keep in mind the following:

One 375ml bottle of full strength beer
(4% alcohol volume) contains 1.4 standard drinks
One 750ml bottle of red wine
(13% alcohol volume) contains 7.7 standard drinks
One 750ml bottle of champagne
(12% alcohol volume) contains 7.1 standard drinks
One 330ml bottle of full strength mixed drink
(7% alcohol volume), such as Bacardi Breezer or Smirnoff Twist, contains 1.8 standard drinks
A 30ml nip (shot) of spirits
(40% alcohol volume) contains one standard drink. A cocktail may have two different spirits

Propoints Values for generic supermarket foods

Common Food List System

Below is some of the weightwatchers pro point values for everyday shopping items. I have collected these from a number of sources and they seem to be fairly accurate. if you have any additional comments or alterations to the below list I am all ways happy to hear them!
Most of the points are for generic foods, others are for brand-name labels (where specified). This guide has helped me greatly in calculating my daily pro point intake and portion sizes.
